With the qualifying date for municipal elections closing in, many of the sitting Goshen city officials haven’t decided if they’ll be running for re-election.

“I am undecided at the moment,” said Goshen Councilman Carter Sanders. “I could make arguments either way.”

And Sanders didn’t sound that worried about drawing a deadline for his decision. He said he’d make up his mind before July 17, the closing day to qualify.

Darren Jordan is another councilman sitting on the election fence.

“I have had several people approach me and ask me to run, but I am just not 100 percent sure what I will do,” Jordan said, adding that it would be a decision he will ultimately make with his wife.

Mayor Jack Waller said, “I just haven’t decided.”

And while the male officials are still weighing their options, Councilwoman Belinda Edwards has already confirmed she “has no plans to run for re-election.”

Councilwoman Norma McLeod and Councilman Sammy Cope could not be reached for comment.

Municipal elections in Goshen, Brundidge, Troy and Banks will take place on Aug. 28. Qualifying for candidates will begin on July 3 and will end at 5 p.m. on July 17.
