Troy University announced on Friday the hiring of Michael Murphy as Director of Special Events and Fundraising.

Murphy make the move to administration after 10 seasons as the head coach of the Troy women’s basketball team.

“I along with my family are excited about the position and are excited about staying in Troy,” Murphy said. “We have many close friends here and are happy to remain a part of the community.”

In his new role, Murphy will lead fund raising event as wellas special functions such as the Troy University Sports Hall of Fame, the Larry Blakeney Golf Classic, T-Day and Fan Days.

Murphy will also assist with speaking engagements and alumni events.
