ESPN and the Sun Belt Conference have teamed up this season and have announced today that they will broadcast six games on ESPN3 for the upcoming 2012 college football season, with three of them featuring the Troy Trojans.

The six additional games brings the total number of Sun Belt games that ESPN will showcase in 2012 to 14, with eight games already being previously announced to air on ESPN2 and ESPNU including Troy’s matchup with Western Kentucky.

The television coverage of the Sun Belt Conference has continued to grow, as the 2011 season saw a total of 56 games featuring Sun Belt teams being broadcasted across a multitude of networks, setting a conference record for the most broadcasts ever during a football season.

For the Trojans, all three of their announced games that will be broadcasted on ESPN3 are at home and include their match-ups with Louisiana-Lafayette on September 8, Mississippi State on September 15 and Navy on November 10.

Troy isn’t a stranger to the spotlight of being broadcast on a national stage. A staggering 76 percent of the Trojans games have been broadcast to either a regional or national audiences; not only that, but 12 of Troy’s games in 2011 were televised and 48-of-63 games since 2007 have been broadcast.

Since 2007, the Trojans are also 12-4 when broadcast on an ESPN network.

The rest of the games are also home stands for the various Sun Belt teams, as reigning Sun Belt champions Arkansas State will take on Memphis on September 8.

September 22 features Louisville at FIU, which may be switched to ESPNU, and Southern Mississippi at Western Kentucky.

The 2012 season will be the first of an eight-year deal with ESPN, which will include five Thursday/Friday games on ESPNU.
