Dixie Youth, Ponytails action heats up

Recreation action is in full swing and teams in several leagues were active on Thursday night.

In Dixie Ponytails action, the Phillies defeated the Power 12-8, while the Bama Belles beat Brundidge 15-5.

The Phillies used a seven-run second inning to defeat the Power, 12-8. Using runs from Logan Davis, Nelsey Leverette, Alyssa English, and Adasia Berry to take a 4-1 lead.

Ashelyn Atwell and Hope Scarbrough would also score in the game for the Power.

Molly Kate Sanders, Gracie Scarbrough, Sidney Armstrong, Addison Bryan, Destiny Flournoy, Olivia Wallace, Gloria Lewis, and Katie Allen all scored to hand the Phillies the victory.

Bama Belles 15, Brundidge 5

The Bama Belles built up a 14-run advantage before Brundidge scored five in the fourth.

Ashlan McCloud, Tucker Earles, Sydni Garrett, Sabra Daniels, Nicole Holland, Graceson Adams, Sheridon Bolden, Ally Johnson, and Zoe Post all scored runs for the Bama Belles.

In the Dixie Youth baseball league, the Angels beat the Rays 9-2 in five innings and the Red Sox topped the Twins 11-2.

For the Angels, Noah Phillips went 1-for-2 with a triple in the first, While Zack Williams, Hunter Little and Cameron Vance each had singles. Daniel Phillips pitched all five innings with eight strikeouts.

For the Rays, Clay Barron had a triple, Colby Williams had a double and Jade Sikes had a single.

Red Sox 11, Twins 2

In the second game, the Red Sox beat the Twins 11-2 in five innings.

For the Red Sox, Lawson Scarbrough went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, three singles and a triple. Wood Jinright went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a single and a double. Cale Callin and Arman Sheffield each had RBIs.

For the Twins, Christian McCall had a double, while Noah Lowery had a single.
