A man with a previous residence in Troy is out on bond after being arrested for bigamy – a Class C felony.
According to information from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Kevin Dwan Evans, 26, was charged after his first wife, who lives in Abbeville, found out about a second wife.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that even though Evans and his first wife were separated at the time, they were not divorced when he married again on Aug. 26, 2011.
Evans was living in Coffee County with his second wife at the time of his May 15 arrest, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He was transferred to Henry County and released on a $5,000 bond.
The Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said deputies did not know, at this time, if Evans was originally from Troy, or just lived in the area at one point.
This is the second bigamy case the Henry County Sheriff’s Department has investigated in the last year.
