Leadership, experience, and vision are the characteristics that prompted Marcus B. Paramore to announce his candidacy for the Troy City Council – District 3.
Paramore currently serves as the Director of Government Relations for Troy University. He is responsible for state and federal legislative affairs. He has been instrumental in securing increased appropriations for the University both in Montgomery and Washington. He has also worked with community leaders with various infrastructure projects, improving the lives of all Troy citizens.
“I believe my experience in Montgomery and Washington provides me with an advantage to position Troy for future growth both in new jobs and expansion of existing industry, as well as better infrastructure,” Paramore said.
Prior to his current role, Paramore served as Director of Development for Troy University Athletics where he led fundraising efforts. During his tenure the athletics department grew annual donations and revenue. All Troy University sports programs either built new facilities or renovated existing ones during this time frame.
Community Service has driven Paramore since an early age, he said. “Community Service was instilled in me at an early age by my parents, grandparents and extended family.
“Our children deserve a quality education, our citizens need good jobs and quality healthcare.”
Paramore was appointed to serve on the Troy City Schools Bonding Authority and currently serves on the City of Troy Planning Commission.
Paramore is a member of the Troy Rotary Club and has participated in various community activities as a volunteer with the Troy Recreation Department and the Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. He has served on the board for the Janice Capilouto Center for the Deaf and also serves on the Board for Easter Seals of Central Alabama.
Paramore holds two degrees from Troy University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Master of Science degree in Sport and Fitness Management.
Paramore is a fiscal conservative and will bring strong business principles to government.
I know small business is the backbone of every community and I will fight to make government work smart and efficient. As a member of the Chamber of Commerce I will work to build a strong environment for all businesses.
Paramore, age 46, is happily married to Leigh Ann (16 years) and has two sons: Bradley 13 and Cody 10 – both attend Troy City Schools.
They are active members of Park Memorial United Methodist Church. He currently serves on the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee and has previously served on the Finance Committee.
“We love Troy – It is our home! I want the best for my children and your children. I want the best for our senior citizens and every member of our community. With your help we can provide the best for everyone.”
