Goshen qualifies for state track meet events

The Goshen High School Eagles track teams traveled to Beauregard over the weekend to compete in the Class 2A Track and Field Sectionals, with several Eagles finishing in top ten spots of their respective events.

Reggie Foster would be the first Eagle to find his way to the top ten of an event, taking fourth in the 100 meter dash on a time of 11.82, while Rodney Williams recorded a seventh place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.89.

Moving into the relay races a combination of Foster, Devandrick Merritt, Brandon Alford and Jerome Lawrence were able to take third place in the 4X100 meter relay, finishing with a time of 46.29.

Two more Eagles would record top ten finishes in the jump competitions, with Joshua Milsap sharing the seventh place spot in the high jump with Cottage Hill’s Hamilton Holdberg, while Milsap took the highest individual finish for an Eagle in the long jump by taking the third place spot.

The Eagles have qualified for the state meet in 100 meter dash, 4X100 meter relay and long jump, which they will compete for on May 4 at Selma Memorial Stadium in Selma.
