Voters head to polls for run-off

Polls are open this morning and Pike County voters can mark their ballots until 7 p.m. in the Republican runoff for president of the Public Service Commission.

That state race is the only item on the ballot for local voters.

Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh garnered nearly half of the statewide vote in March, but didn’t get the 50 percent, plus one needed to avoid a runoff. Chip Brown will appear as her opponent.

According to election officials, the runoff will happen by the same process as the primary did, and voters will mark their ballots in the same locations they did for the primary election. Only 28 percent of Pike County turned out to vote in the primary election.
