Pike Liberal Arts sweeps season series from Glenwood

PHENIX CITY – Pike Liberal Arts did something it had not done in a while on Friday. The Patriots swept the season series from Glenwood School with a 3-2 victory.
With the win, No. 2 Pike Liberal Arts has defeated the two-time defending state champions three times this season.
Pike no-hit Glenwood in a 7-0 non-region win to kick off the season. PLAS knocked off the Gators 8-4 on April 11 on the back of a dominating pitching performance from Blake Floyd in which he struck out 13 batters.
On Friday, The Patriots again used the power of their pitching staff to out-wit the third-ranked team in the AISA.
Lawson Stewart tossed six innings allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out three.
Stewart was also 3-for-4 at the plate.
Nick McLaughlin and Chandler Avant were each 1-for-3 while Taytom Barnes was 1-for-4.
Pike Liberal Arts will find out Saturday who it will face in the first round of the AISA playoffs which begin April 27.
