Charles Henderson softball defeats Eufaula

Charles Henderson’s overall record may not be something to brag about but they can certainly be happy with their area showing.

The Trojans softball team improved to 7-22 overall but more importantly 3-1 in area play with a 5-4 victory over Eufaula on Wednesday.

Madison Mehaffey was 3-for-4 at the plate and also picked up the win in the circle for the Trojans.

Eufaula scored two runs in the first inning to take the early lead.

Victoria Outlaw got Charles Henderson on the board in the third with an RBI double, scoring Ashley Wilson, who reached on a single.

The Trojans tied the game in the fourth when Meredith Motes led off the frame with a single. Brittany Williams quickly moved Motes to second on a sacrifice bunt before Rondrea McBride delivered a run-scoring single.

After Mehaffey reached on a single in the fifth, Becca Hartley doubled to give the Trojans the lead. Outlaw and Williams both single home runs to give CHHS the 5-2 advantage.

Eufaula scored twice in the seventh but were retires with the tying run standing on second.

CHHS will travel to take on Carroll at 5:30p.m. on Thursday.
