Tommy Richard Hale

Tommy Richard Hale, age 72 of Troy, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at UAB in Birmingham. Funeral services for Mr. Hale will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Teal officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with full Military honors and Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Mr. Hale was born and raised in Griffin, GA. He was a member of God’s Way Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends and will be dearly missed. Mr. Hale retired from the Navy on Oct. 31, 1983, he was a member of Fleet Reserve Naval Retiree Organization, VFW, The American Legion Post 70 and encouraged joining American Legion & Women’s Auxillary.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lois Hale; brothers, Horace Hale, James Hale, Walter Hale, Jimmy Hale and Robert (Bob) Hale. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruby “Katie” Hale; three daughters, Crystal Lynn, Mitzy Gaynor and Wanda Annette Vinson (Jeremy) all of Troy; one brother, William Hale (Barbara) of TX; sisters, Francis Folgem of TN, Brenda Stoneking of FL and sister-in-law, Maurine Hale of TX; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jessie Dix, Dennis Hagler, Ray Crosby, Mathew Wellons, Michael Natale and Jerome Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be the American Legion Pike Co. Post 70. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
