When all was said and done, the scoreboard at Riddle-Pace Field had more crooked numbers than the Mega Millions jackpot.

Arkansas State won the drawing, scoring nine runs in the final two innings to defeat Troy 16-8 to even the weekend series at 1-1.

Troy starter Jimmy Hodgskin lasted just two innings and surrendered three runs on three hits.

The Trojans broke a 7-7 tie in the sixth when Tyler Hannah led off the inning with a triple off the left centerfield wall. Logan Pierce then singled up the middle to give Troy the 8-7 advantage.

Pierce was 3-for-4 on the game and is 5-for-8 thus far in the series with six RBI.

Arkansas State would not trail for long, however. The Red Wolves took advantage of Troy’s shaky bullpen to score four runs in the eighth and five in the ninth to secure the victory. The Trojans would use eight pitchers in the contest.

Troy and Arkansas State will play the rubber match on Sunday. Game time is set for 1p.m.
