Spring depth chart released

Didn’t get to hang around practice long on Tuesday but did get a chance to talk to Coach Blakeney about the newly released spring depth chart. Obviously, the position coaches and coordinators have a lot of (most all) input into the early depth charts but he did talk about the quarterback position.
Dallas Tidwell is listed as Corey Robinson’s backup in front of JUCO transfer Deon Anthony. Blakeney said Tidwell has a little bit better understanding of the offense than Anthony at this point but quarterbacks coach Sean Reagan says Tidwell and Anthony are 2A and 2B. Blakeney said he feels Anthony has the tools to help the team this year but he is unsure of what exact role he will play.
Felton Payton is listed as the Y-receiver in place of Corey Johnson, who is out for the season with a torn ACL.
Look for TE Jim Teknipp to see more snaps early on especially in the T-Day game. Blakeney said Teknipp would add some help blocking in the run game and is a big target (6-5, 245) for Robinson in the pass attack.
The offensive line is in disarray with injuries. None will threaten anyone’s season but prepare to see several new names in the line in the T-Day game.
Here is who was running plays with the first team offense early in practice on Tuesday.
LT – Chris Hawkins
LG – Caleb Carbine
C – Andrew Phillips
RG – Zach Johnson
RT – Terrence Jones
Defensively, everything looks to be on track with the way coaches want them depth chart wise. Kanorris Davis is not participating in spring as he recovers from surgery but will be ready for the season.
One new name Blakeney is impressed with is Shaq Beverly (DB). Beverly (5-8, 200) is a true freshman from Jacksonville, Fla.
Other guys to watch are JUCO transfer Jeremy Spikner (DB) and true freshman Chris Davis (DB). Blakeney said Davis was young but liked his attitude and effort.
