Charles Henderson is preparing to welcome Mike Dean as the new athletic director and football coach to the Trojan faithful and family.
In a joint effort by the school and booster club there will be a “Meet the Coach” event tonight from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“We want the members of the community, the players and faculty members to come out and meet our new coach,” Buford Stephens, president of the CHHS booster club, said. “Everyone will have a chance to meet him and his family at the start of a new era at Charles Henderson and learn more about him.”
Stevens said the event came as a response to numerous requests to meet the new coach, who assumed the role of athletic director last February and assumed his role Feb. 13.
Before accepting his role at CHHS, Dean was head coach at Valley High School and currently has a career coaching record of 32-15.
The meet and greet will offer members of the community a chance to meet Dean face-to-face, have any questions answered and meet his family.
“It’s extremely important for people to come out,” Stephens said. “Our program is going through a lot of change and it’s good for the community to show their support and get to know their new coach, there’s a lot of god things going on at Charles Henderson.”
Anyone who attends the event will also be treated to free hamburgers and hot dogs, and everyone is invited to attend.
Stephens says that he is excited for the athletic programs at CHHS and the work Dean has been undertaking, and that he is “dedicated to all sports, not just football.”
The meet and greet will be held at the CHHS athletic department Wednesday night, and more information can be gotten by calling the high school at 566-3510.
