Reba LaMerle Carmichael
Reba LaMerle (Johnson) Carmichael, 88, a native of Skipperville, Alabama went to her heavenly home March 11, 2012 with her children by her side.
Mrs. Carmichael was a graduate of Troy State University. She spent the majority of her life serving diligently as a pastor’s wife and teaching in the public schools for 25 years. She loved both of these callings and made a major positive impact in both areas of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Maggie Johnson; her husband of 58 years, Rev. John Curtis Carmichael; four sisters-in-law, Georgia Johnson, Betty Park, Evelyn Starling and Christine Hixon; four brothers-in-law, Ralph Brown, Seth Park, Shelby Starling, Glenn Carmichael and Sam Hixon.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Keitha and Bob Duncan of Pensacola, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Asher and Sandra Carmichael of Guntersville; grandson and his wife, Scott and Anne Duncan of Pensacola, FL; granddaughter and her husband, Blair and Jason Lober of Birmingham; granddaughter, Ashley Carmichael of Birmingham; great-grandson, Jackson Lober of Birmingham; her brother, Robert Sterling Johnson of Sylacauga; her sister, Sara Lynn Brown of Tallahassee, FL; a sister-in-law, Elaine Carmichael of Goshen; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Evanelle and Dan Jackson of Glenwood and Enid and Walter Folmar of Glenwood; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Billy and Rose Carmichael of Stockbridge, GA. She was also blessed with many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Glenwood United Methodist Church in Glenwood at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 14th, 2012. Visitation will immediately precede the service from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church.
Burial will follow at the Providence Cemetery in Glenwood with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Flowers will be accepted, but the family would like to invite you to make a donation in the name of LaMerle Carmichael to the Alzheimer Organization in your area or the church or charity of your choice.
We, the family of LaMerle Carmichael, would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Westminster Village for your love and care shown to her during her 12 year residency there. We would also like to thank the Infirmary Hospice for their gentle care and attention shown during her last days. Your encouragement and support to our family is so very much appreciated. It will not be forgotten. May God bless each of you.
