James R. Newman born in Pike County Alabama to James M. Newman and Elizabeth Hughes, February 10, 1917, died at his residence March 7, 2012.  Funeral services will be held at Green Hills Funeral Home chapel March 10, 2012 at 11:00 am with Reverend Bo Weed officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday, March 10, 2012 one hour prior to service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Green Hills Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers:  Don Motes, Randy Darby, Ken Nobles, Nathan Lisenby, Donnie Lisenby, Neil Lisenby and Benny Pinckard.  Honorary pallbearers will be David Ryan, and Travis Williams.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Horn Newman; parents, James M. Newman and Elizabeth H. Newman, sisters, Melva Floyd and Mavis Jones.  He is survived by one son, James W. “Jimmy” Newman and his wife Jo Ann Newman; grandchildren:  Letha Newman Lisenby and her husband Donnie Lisenby, Jamie Lanita Newman Evans and her husband Corey Evans, Chris Giglio and his wife Stephanie Farley Giglio; great grandchildren:  Philip Nathan Lisenby and his wife Christin Moore Lisenby, Patrick Neil Lisenby and his wife Renee’ Kinder Lisenby, Jordan Nakota Parkman, Dalton Cole Parkman, Tristan Michael Finley, Haleigh Giglio and Adrian Giglio; great great grandchildren:  Alexis Taylor Lisenby and Nathan Porter Lisenby;  one sister, Mary Mann.

Mr. Newman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather.

He was President of the Newman Agency, owner of Newman Distributors, part owner of Newman’s Men’s shop and an avid gardner; he was a mason, a shriner and a member of the Eastern Star.
