Milsap highlights area’s best

1st Team

Player of the Year

Joshua Milsap

Forward – Goshen (SR)

Milsap was the key component that helped Goshen improve from a three-win team a year ago to a 13-win team this season. Milsap averaged 21 points per game and is verbally committed to West Alabama.

 

Marlon Meadows

Guard – Pike County (SR)

Meadows was a leader for the Bulldogs in his senior season. When a big shot was needed, Meadows was the one to take it. Meadows averaged 13.6 points per game.

 

Tyler Mitchell

Forward – Charles Henderson (JR)

Mitchell was the Trojans go to guy this season. The junior led Charles Henderson with 14.6 points per game. He was also a force under the glass averaging 7.1 rebounds per game.

 

Chandler Avant

Guard – Pike Liberal Arts (SO)

Avant proved to be a solid ball handler and scorer for the Patriots. As a sophomore, he scored a season-high of 29 points in January and followed that with a 26-point performance a week later.

 

Devantez Jackson

Guard – Charles Henderson (JR)

Jackson was a balanced player for the Trojans this season averaging 9.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest. Jackson could handle himself inside agaisnt bigger guys and knock down a clutch shot when needed.

 

Coach of the Year

Doug Branson – Pike County High School

Branson helped turn around a struggling basketball program. The Bulldogs came on strong late in the season and won their first game of the area tournament.

 

2nd Team

DeAngelo Orum

Guard – Goshen (SO)

Orum had a nice season averaging 13 points and four rebounds per game.

 

Stewart Pinkard

Guard – Pike Liberal Arts (SR)

Pinkard moved to guard from forward due to his versatility as  he turned in several double-doubles.

 

DeQuante Shockley

Forward – CHHS (SR)

Shockley could change the pace of a game in a hurry. He snagged six rebounds per contest for the Trojans.
