Pike Liberal Arts finishes fifth in season’s first tournament

Pike Liberal Arts opened the 2012 golf season at the Troy County Club on Tuesday.

The Patriots hosted more than 10 Alabama Independent School Association squads at the tournament.

Pike Liberal Arts finished fifth in the contest with a 341 team score.

Lee-Scott walked away with the victory scoring 313 as a team.

Glenwood finished second, turning a 319 team score.

“We had some high spots,” said head coach Denny Sanford. “We still have work to do but we didn’t look bad for the first tournament.”

Glenwood’s Alex Ball turned in a 67 to earn individual low-scorer honors.

Stewart Pinkard shot a 79 to lead the Patriots.

Pike will travel to Dothan on Thursday to play in a tournament hosted Northside Methodist.
