What are you Pinterested in?

I surf the Internet for morning news, just like many folks in Pike County, and this week I saw a report that listed Alabama residents among the biggest users of Pinterest.
According to an analysis provided by Experian Hitwise, an Internet research firm, about four percent of the people using Pinterest are in Alabama. Utah and Tennessee beat out Alabama with rates of 5 percent and 4.5 percent.
If you haven’t had a chance to peruse the social networking site, it’s an online version of the corkboard you may had above your desk in college or now at the office.
Users find items online they like and “pin” them to a special interest board they create. It’s an easy way to keep track of design and decorating ideas, recipes, fashion trends, crafts and many other things.
I began using the site a few months ago to pin wedding decoration and reception ideas. A fashion designer friend of mine likes to pin things that inspire him and a photographer buddy pins photo styles she might want to incorporate into her work.
But the site isn’t just for the crafty, or for ladies. There is test-taking info, camping ideas and sports-related content.
If you have an interest, you can find it on Pinterest.
The only downside I’ve found to the site is that it seems a little exclusive at first. You have to be “invited” to join. But that’s a simple process. You just fill out a quick form online and receive a Pinterest invitation in a day or so, or a friend who’s already on the site can invite you.
Other features on the site include “Pinterviews,” a blog, and “Pinteresting trends.” You can follow the site on Twitter, like it on Facebook and even pin on the go. Yes, there’s an app for that. Check it all out at pinterest.com.
So what are you Pinterested in Pike County?
