Duane Russell

Duane Russell of Troy passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. He was 63. Graveside services for Duane Russell will be heldĀ  at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Sandfield Cemetery with Pastor Shawn Dutcher officiating. Burial will follow in Sandfield Cemetery with full Military Honors, Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Zebulon Church prior to the service.

Duane was born February 8, 1949 in Stockport, OH to the late Marion Kenneth Russell and Mary Susannah Price Russell and grew up in the Belleview, FL. and Bartlett Ohio areas. He joined the U.S. Army and served as a specialist E-5 aircraft mechanic. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After returning from Vietnam, he lived in Marietta, OH area until 1985 and worked in the auto-body profession. His three sons were born during this time period. He moved to Belleview, FL in 1985 and married Debbie Hamilton in 1990. They moved to Troy, AL in 2005. He enjoyed animals, gardening, mechanic work, tractors, rural life, working on his place and outdoor life. He was a friend to everybody; he was well-liked and loved by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Russell, Troy; three sons, Kenny Russell, Bridgeport, OH, Travis Russell, Williamtown, West, Virginia, and Dustin Russell, Middlebourne, W.V; two grandchildren, Savannah and Landon Russell, Williamtown, W. V; a brother, Gene Russell, Bartlett, OH; five sisters, Joyce Bush, Hendersonville, NC, Barbara Nolen, Thompsonville, IL, Connie Swinney, Asheville, NC, Dixie Byrd and Cheryl Skaggs, both of Hendersonville, NC.

Memorials may be made to Sandfield Cemetery fund.
