Suspect held in search for Pugh

Lawmen have taken one person into custody for questioning and another is being sought in relation to the disappearance of a Clio man.

Willie David Pugh, 27, has been missing since about 7:15 Saturday night. A press release from the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation “points to foul play in Mr. Pugh’s disappearance.”

Pugh was last seen on Hwy. 51 between Clio and Ariton and his 2003 blue Chevrolet Malibu was found behind an abandoned residence in Ariton.

A ground and air search was conducted until nightfall on Sunday and resumed Monday morning, according to Lt. David Morris with the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office. The Dale County Sheriff’s Office provided air support and tracking dogs from Ventress Correctional Facility are also being used.

The Barbour County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have seen Pugh, or who has any information about his whereabouts to call (334) 775-3434.
