Joyce Brooks Roten

Joyce Brooks Roten, 70, of the Almeria community, died Sunday, January 8, 2012 at home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2012, 11 a.m., from Macedonia Baptist Church with Dr. Matt Helms officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Gray Funeral Home directing.

She was the daughter of the late Fred and Bertha Earles Brooks. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Obie and Freddie Brooks, and a granddaughter, Sandy Gamble. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wyman Roten; three daughters, Paula (Keith) Gamble, Derita Roten, Karen Thornton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Annie Ruth (Douglas) May; brother, Charlie (Judy) Brooks; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the church.

Memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 4211 County Road 15, Union Springs, AL. 36089 or a charity of ones choice.

Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 from Gray Funeral Home.
