Mrs. Jennette Whitehurst Rogers departed this life on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Troy Health and Rehab.  Services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Troy with Rev. Elijah Shafah officiating.  Internment will follow at the Carroll Street Memorial Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Mrs. Rogers was born August 22, 1935 in Pike County, Alabama to the late Willie and Helen Whitehurst.  She accepted Christ into her life at an early age at Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church.  She was a cook for many years at Edge Hospital and later began working at Wilson Barbecue House.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fate Rogers, four sisters and two brothers.  She leaves to cherish her memories a very loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Betty (Eddie J.) Parker, Troy; a devoted niece, Jimmie Helen Ballard, Troy; a nephew, Billy Whitehurst, Montgomery,; one aunt, Juanita Berry, Cleveland, OH; five adorable grandchildren, Milton Jones, Ft. Campbell, KY; Christopher Parker, Tamara Parker, Tameria Parker, and Eric (Nicole) Parker, all of Troy; devoted great-grandchildren; devoted great-nephews, Tim and Michael Ballard; great niece, Janice Ballard, all of Sacramento, CA; devoted cousin, Mary Ruth Whitehurst; devoted dear friends, Christal Woods, Jean Coskrey and Elizabeth Berry, all of Troy; and a host of other devoted family members and friends.
