Churches offer special services

Bows, garland, lights and candles have adorned places of worship for weeks, ushering in the Christmas season as churches prepare for one of the busiest times of the year.

No matter your denomination, there are a variety of services you and your family can attend to celebrate the Christ Child’s birth.

From come-and-go communion services to worship services of music and inspirational thoughts, here are some of the events planned in the area for Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

Park Memorial United Methodist Church in Troy will have a come-and-go communion service from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. and a candlelight service at 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center.

Southside Baptist Church in Troy will present characters from the Nativity who will tell what they saw the night the Christ Child was born. The service will begin at 4 p.m. First Baptist Church of Troy will celebrate Christmas Eve with a 5:30 p.m. candlelight service with music and inspirational thoughts. First United Methodist Church of Troy’s Christmas Eve candlelight communion service will be at 6 p.m.

Brundidge United Methodist Church will celebrate the eve of Christmas with a come-and-go candlelight communion service from 6 until 7 p.m.

Tennille United Methodist Church will have a candlelight service and communion at 7 p.m.

St. Martin Catholic Church in Troy will celebrate the eve of Christmas with Midnight Mass.

Salem Baptist Church and County Line Baptist Church in Brundidge have mid-week services planned to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Salem Baptist Church will have a candlelight service and Lord’s Supper Saturday night at 6:30 p.m.

County Line Baptist Church will also celebrate the season on Christmas Eve with a Christmas cantata at 6 p.m.

All services above are open to anyone who would like to join in for worship.
