“Christmas with Santa” at the Troy Public Library is more than a visit with the Jolly Ol’ Elf. It’s a Christmas event, said Teresa Colvin, TPL children’s librarian.
“We want each child’s visit with Santa to be a fun and memorable event, so we do all that we can to make it so,” Colvin said. “At Troy Public Library’s ‘Christmas with Santa,’ we make waiting fun. As the children wait, they can listen to Christmas stories being read and they can make a holiday craft item to take home as a reminder of their visit with Santa.”
Colvin said this will be an especially busy year for Santa Claus because so many boys and girls all around the world have been good.
“Santa said that the children in Troy have been especially good so he is going to take some time from his work in the toy shop at the North Pole to come to Troy Monday night,” Colvin said. “Santa wants to hear the Christmas wishes of all our boys and girls so he will be here at the library from 6 until 7 o’clock Monday night. All little children are invited to come and see Santa.”
The younger children will get to visit with Santa first because they will have to hurry home to bed, Colvin said. “This has worked really well for us over the last few years,” she said. “So, we ask parents with babies and toddlers to come early to see Santa.”
This year, each child will get a Christmas coloring book and a candy cane to take home.
“Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras and capture these special moments and make memories for them and their child,” she said.
