Luverne man killed in early morning wreck

A 22-year-old Luverne man was killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 29, 7 miles west of Troy.

According to Sgt. Steve Jarrett with the Alabama Highway Patrol, the victim’s 1992 red Nissan pick-up truck was traveling west when it crossed the center line and collided with a tractor-trailer. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, owned by JR’s Trucking, Inc. in Brewton, was not injured.

The wreck happened about 6:35 a.m.

Jarrett said the victim’s name would be released, pending notification of his family. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

The crash is under investigation and toxicology reports are pending.
