Incumbents qualify to run again

Qualifying for the Democratic Party opened Monday morning at the Pike County Courthouse.

Jerry Williams, Pike County Democratic Party chairman, said only four candidates qualified Monday, but he expects to see more people interested in the next couple of weeks.

All four Democratic candidates who qualified for the March 13, 2012, primary election are incumbents ¬– County Commissioner Homer Wright, District 1; County Commissioner Ray Goodson, District 4; County Commissioner Charlie Harris, District 5; and Pike County Board of Education Member the Rev. Herbert Reynolds, District 5.

Pike County Republican Party chairman Thomas Haigh was unavailable Monday to update qualifiers for the Republican ticket. Qualifying opened for that party on Nov. 12.

The deadline to qualify for the March party primaries is Jan. 13, 2012.
