Rebels hold off Red Level

Zion Chapel held on late to defeat Red Level 35-29 Friday night.

The Rebels (6-2, 4-2) took a 35-0 lead before Red Level scored and added a two-point conversion to send the game to halftime.

Zion Chapel running back Dustin Rigsbee rushed for 304 yards on 20 carries and five touchdowns in the first half alone. Rigsbee finished with 375 on 28 carries and accounted for 34 points.

The Tigers scored 21 answered points in the second half but would fall just short.

LaMarcus Adair and Mickey Cox did not play due to injuries forcing Blake Powell to step in at quarterback.

With Goshen’s loss to Highland Home, the Rebels are now in a three-way tie for second in Class 2A Region 2.

Zion Chapel will host Goshen next week.

The Rebels could actually be knocked out of the playoff picture altogether if they fall to Goshen and Samson wins their contest with New Brockton next week.

Zion Chapel takes on Ariton to round out their regular season slate.
