Troy University officials are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for the theft of equipment from Veterans Memorial Stadium.

“We are dedicated to the apprehension and prosecution of those who are responsible for the theft of property,” said Police Chief John McCall. “As in other aspects of campus life, we want to do all we can to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff, and property.”

According to police, someone entered Veterans Memorial Stadium sometime late Sunday night and made away with about $20,000 worth of equipment used for game-day event streaming. “It was obviously someone with access to the offices,” said Rickey Hazel, sports information director. “There were no signs of breaking and entering.”

The offices victimized included the media control room, press box, home radio booth and work room, as well as Hazel’s personal office.

The vandals took laptops, video cameras, mixer boards, and the university’s web streaming equipment, Hazel said. Also stolen were personal items from Hazel’s desk.
