Rebels atop Power Rankings

The Messenger’s Power Rankings are hot off the press again. These rankings do not reflect whether one team is better than another in a head-to-head matchup. They only show our opinion of how well each team is playing in comparison to others in the area. So here they are:
1. Zion Chapel (3-1 Overall, 2-1 Region)
Zion Chapel reclaims the top spot after a character building win over Highland Home. The Rebels defense held the Flying Squadron to -3 yards in the second half.
Zion Chapel is 2-1 in region play but will step outside to take on Kinston and look for their first start since they started 4-1 in 1994. Oddly enough, their only loss at that point was to Kinston.
2. CHHS (2-2, 2-1)
Charles Henderson had a suffered their first region setback last week in a 21-20 loss to Valley.
The lack of a passing game is starting to catch up to the Trojans as teams begin to key on Courtney Downing.
3. Goshen (2-2, 2-1)
The Eagles are soaring after winning two straight in area play.
Goshen has shuffled offensive lineman all season but have seemed to find a good rotation.
4. PLAS (2-2, 1-2)
The Patriots are only one game into the second Wayne Grant offensive era but they didn’t look overly sharp last week against Ashford.
5. Pike County (0-4, 0-3)
Fred Holland takes over as interim coach and looks to led the Bulldogs to their first victory versus Goshen.
