The women of First United Methodist Church of Troy are stepping out boldly and joining tens of thousands other women around the world via Beth Moore’s Living Proof Live conference today.
Two hundred women from the local area will come together Saturday morning at FUMC to spend a day in Christian fellowship sitting under the teachings of American evangelist, author and teacher, Beth Moore.
Moore founded Living Proof Ministries, a biblically based organization for women, in 1994. Her ministry is based in Houston and primarily focuses on aiding women who desire to model their lives on evangelical Christian principles.
Sandi Gouge, a member of the FUMC steering committee, said Moore’s Living Proof Live simulcast is a way to expand the women’s outreach ministry.
“First United Methodist Church is not a mega church and this is the first time that we have hosted an event like this,” Gouge said. “We’re thrilled that our women’s ministry is able to offer this opportunity for women in our area to join thousands of women from around the world in sharing the fruits of the spirit.”
The Living Proof Live simulcast event will begin with a continental breakfast in the round room at FUMC at 8 a.m. The Living Proof Live simulcast will begin at 9:15 a.m. and conclude at 4:15 p.m.
“Beth Moore will be live from Texas and we will be among the 100,000 women at 8,500 churches who will benefit from her teachings,” Gouge said. “The simulcast will include several teaching and singing sessions before and after lunch. During lunch and at breaks, we’ll have opportunities to share our thoughts and ideas that have come from the sessions, so there will be time for fellowship and learning from each other.
Door prizes will add to the fun of the day’s event.
Only a limited number of the 200 tickets remain for the Beth Moore Living Proof Live conference simulcast.
Gouge said the FUMC women’s outreach ministry is excited and encouraged by the participation.
“With so much competition for time in today’s world, it is exciting that so many women would make time to be a part of this ministry,” she said.
Tickets are $5 each. For availability call the FUMC office at 334-566-4400. Each participant is asked to donate a non-perishable item to be given to local food banks.
In addition to her Living Proof Live conferences, Moore also teaches through her radio show, “Living Proof with Beth Moore” and appears as a regular on the television program, “Life Today.”
Moore writes book based on the regular Bible studies that she conducts at the Living Proof Live conferences and at her local church, First Baptist Church in Houston.
Through the years, American missionaries have taken the Bible studies overseas, resulting in Beth Moore Bible study groups all over the world.
Moore’s Living Proof Live conferences have taken her to 39 states and have been attended by more than 421,000 women. She has also taught conferences for women in Ireland, England, Singapore, the Philippines, Puerto Rico and India.
