Charles Henderson will look to move to 2-0 in region play against Booker T. Washington tonight.
The Trojans (1-1, 1-0) come into the contest fresh off a 28-12 win over Tallassee last week. Charles Henderson dropped their season opener to Beauregard.
CHHS is 11-2 all-time against the Golden Eagles and won 34-20 last season.
Trojan running back Courtney Downing is off to a solid start. The junior has rushed for 328 yards on 41 carries.
“Courtney has produced the way we thought he would,” head coach Hugh Fountain said. “He’s a hard worker and does a good job for us.”
Downing has scored only once this season but that number is expected to rise.
Stanley Crawford has been a quality backup rushing for 100 yards and a score against Tallassee.
Charles Henderson has not lost to Booker T. Washington since 2005 and the Trojans have out scored the Golden Eagles 161-53 in their past five meetings.
The Trojans passing game could use some work as quarterback Joe Bradley is only 11-for-32 on the young season.
Earnest Downing had only one catch for seven yards last week after a two touchdown performance in Week 1 against Beauregard.
Reciever Robert Lee picked up two receptions for 52 yards last week.
Charles Henderson will also look to reduce their amount of penalties.
Last week, the Trojans totaled 10 flags that cost them 100 yards.
Booker T. Washington defeated Carver Birmingham before falling to Eufaula last week, 47-0.
Charles Henderson has lost two of their first three home games each of the past two seasons.
The Trojans and the Golden Eagle will kick off from Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy tonight at 7 p.m.
