Ira Wilson Thompson

Ira Wilson Thompson, age 81, of Springhill, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011. Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Springhill Baptist Church with Pastor Mack Lowery and Pastor Keith Reynolds officiating. A family graveside service will follow at the Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery with Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation for Mr. Thompson will be Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Ira Wilson Thompson was born in Springhill, Alabama on March 10, 1930. He served in the National Guard from 1948 until 1954. Following his Military duties, he was in the trucking business and farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Asa and Wyche Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Mert N. Thompson; son, Danny Thompson (Pam); grandson, Derrick I. Thompson (Ammie); granddaughter, Dejie T. Guerrier (Matt); great-grandchildren, Ava Grayce Guerrrier and Asa C. Thompson; sisters, Theo Barron (Roy), Tess Lowery (Fred); nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers , the family ask donations be made to Springhill Baptist Church, Attn: Building Fund.
