The Troy City Schools Board of Education will meet at 7:30 a.m. Monday to finalize the contract with its new superintendent.

The special called meeting aims to bring to completion more than two weeks of negotiations with Lee Hicks, who was hired by the board on June 22.

“I haven’t gotten final copy back yet, but we all looked at it this morning and it looked good,” said Roxie Kitchens, president of the school board. “I’m assuming we’re on a go.”

Board members spent more than two hours during a work session on June 30, hammering out details of the contract with Board Attorney Richard Calhoun.

Kitchens said board members expect Hicks to begin working either Monday or Tuesday, after the contract is signed.

Kitchens said she believes Hicks will be in town Monday to sign the contract.
