Troy slips past South Dale

DOTHAN – After building an early six run lead, Troy saw their lead vanish before finally knocking off South Dale 9-7 on Monday night.

Trailing 6-0, South Dale rallied to tie the game with three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings in the Dixie Boys District 6 tournament.

With one out in the sixth, Hunter Baggett scored on a wild pitch putting Troy ahead 7-6.

Devon Hooks walked and John Micheal Renfroe was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded adding two more runs.

Xavius Burden relieved starter Austin Ingram, pitching the final three innings, to preserve the victory for Troy.

Ingram pitched four complete innings on the mound allowing three runs.

Tuesday, Troy will face the winner of the Crenshaw County-Dothan game. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
