Charles Elliot Beasley
Charles Elliot Beasley – was born October 15, 1926, in Pike County, AL to Ed and Maude Kelley Beasley. He died June 20, 2011 in Mobile, AL. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a carpenter’s mate aboard the hospital ship USS Benevolence. As a reservist, he was called back into the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Bell Telephone Company after WWII from which he retired after 30 service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was a member of The Toulmin Lodge of F&AM #875 for over 50 years where he was also active in the OES. In addition, he was a member of the Shriners Organization where he volunteered as a driver of the van that transported patients from Mobile to the hospitals in Shreveport, LA and Galveston, TX. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Doris Bernhardt Beasley of Mobile, AL; one brother, Edward Orlando Beasley of Montgomery, AL; two sisters, Sybil Juanita Beasley Harris of Troy, AL and Carolyn Elizabeth Beasley Barefoot of Prattville, AL. He is survived by two daughters, Diana Jean Beasley Rumbley (Ted) of Saraland, AL and Charlene Kay Beasley Moore (Jimmy) of Philadelphia, MS; four grandchildren, Gregory Dwayne Rumbley (Pauline) of Creola, AL, Jeremy Glen Moore of Philadelphia, MS, Nancy Elizabeth Moore Sellers (Matt) of Katy, TX and Michelle Rhiannon Webber Moore of Daphne, AL; seven great-grandchildren, Autumn LaShea Rumbley of Creola, AL, April Marie Rumbley of Mobile, AL, Charles Elliot Rumbley of Creola, AL, James Alan Moore of Daphne, AL, Ethan Grant Lane of Creola, AL, Jaxon Gregory Rumbley of Creola, AL and Charlotte Diana Sellers of Katy, TX; two great-grandchildren, Braxton Elliot Rumbley and Brannon Dewayne Rumbley, both of Grand Bay, AL. Graveside services and interment will be Friday, June 24, 2011, at 12:00 noon in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home beginning at 10:30 a.m. prior to services.
