Authorities from the Troy Police Department arrested a man in connection with a robbery that had taken place at Pete’s Package Store on North Three Notch Street at approximately 10:37 p.m. Thursday night.
James Allen Christian, 36-year-old from Troy, was arrested on two counts of robbery first degree at approximately 9 a.m., according to information released by Chief Anthony Everage.
Sergeant Benny Scarbrough, of the TPD, said the arresting officer observed Christian walking Friday morning on the 200 block of Washington Avenue.
“When the suspect saw police, he immediately ran and after a short foot pursuit he surrendered to police,” Scarbrough said. “He was taken into custody and transported to the Troy Police Department.”
Scarbrough said the suspect took money from the cash register in the business and struck both clerks at the business during the robbery.
“Care ambulance responded to the scene and checked both clerks,” Scarbrough said.
Scarbrough said an undisclosed amount of money was taken from the clerks during the robbery and that Christian fled the scene shortly after the incident and was heading toward Wiley Street.
According to authorities, Christian was also arrested for a parole violation.
Christian’s bond is set at $100,000 and he has been transferred to the Pike County Jail.
Scarbrough said the case remains under investigation by the Troy Police Department.
