Deacon Ezell Ramsey

Deacon Ezell Ramsey, 88, of 2845 Mimosa St. Columbus passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 1 pm, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Benevolent Grove Baptist Church, Troy, AL. Interment will follow in China Grove Cemetery, China Grove, AL. Visitation will be today from noon until 6 pm, followed by a family hour from 6pm until 7 pm, according to Sconiers Funeral Home, 836 5th Ave. Columbus, GA

Deacon Ramsey was born April 22, 1923 in Troy, AL, the son of Isiah and Eula Mae Howard Ramsey. He was a member of the Benevolent Grove Baptist Church and it’s Board of Deacons. He retired from Tom’s Foods and was a Prince Hall Mason. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Minnie Tolbert.

Survivors include a devoted wife, Lola Ramsey, two daughters, Ola Pearl Ramsey and Josephine Ramsey Darby, three sons, John (Ernestine) Ramsey and Billy Ramsey all of Columbus, and James (Eloise) Ramsey of Opelika, AL, sixteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and many friends and other relatives.
