The “Lift Your Voice” Gospel Musical Workshop and Concert is set for June 9 through June 11 at Troy University and everyone is invited.
The event is hosted by Brandon McClure and features a workshop that is designed to create an effective church music ministry and a free admission concert.
“The purpose of the workshop is to touch hearts and lift spirits through the medium of gospel music,” McClure said.
The workshops will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, June 9 and 10 and at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 at the Baptist Student Center at 507 East Collegedale Street in Troy.
The gospel music concert with special guest, James Bolton, the lead singer and songwriter for the nationally known Bolton Brothers Singers from Mississippi, will be at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 at the Claudia Crosby Theater on the campus of Troy University.
Admission is free.
McClure describes himself as a singing piano and organ-playing Christian who is stepping into a new light as he directs his first music workshop extravaganza.
“This is a natural progression for me, “McClure said. “I’ve been a gospel musician for more than 10 years and it’s time to step out and do something a little more ambitious.”
McClure has played and sung with great musicians. At age 25, he was recently named the youngest minister of music at Rockwest Baptist Church in Troy, where the Rev. Charlie Sanky, Jr. is pastor.
