Services for Mr. Guy Hartwell Sawyer, Sr., 90, of Frisco City who died April 23, 2011 at his daughter’s home in Brundidge was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Lowell Thomas officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Frisco City under the direction of Monroe Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation for Mr. Sawyer was Monday, April 25, 2011 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Sawyer was born in Jones Mill and a resident of Frisco City. He had lived in Brundidge for the past 2 years. He was a member of Frisco City United Methodist Church and Frisco City Senior Center. Mr. Sawyer was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. He was a salesman and worked with the Co-op in Frisco City for several years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Earl Turk Sawyer. Survivors include a son, Guy Hartwell Sawyer, Jr. of Brewton; daughter, Margaret Ross (Thomas “Bud”) of Brundidge; sister, Gayneil White of Goodway; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Hospice Advantage in Troy, the United Methodist Church of Brundidge Choir Fund or the Frisco City United Methodist Church.
