Joseph “Joe” Bush, age 84, of Troy, Alabama and Naples, Florida, passed away in Naples, Fla., Sunday, April 10, 2011. A memorial service for Mr. Bush will be Monday, April 18, 2011, at 3 p.m., at Green Hills Funeral Home in Troy, Alabama, with Dr. Matthew Curtis Helms officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Green Hills Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Bush is the son of the late Rev. W.M. Bush and Erie M. Bush. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mrs. Virginia Curtis Bush; two sons, Dr. Joseph Bush, Jr., and his wife Elizabeth of Washington D.C., and Jeffrey Bush and his wife Joanne of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one grandchild, Gillian Bush of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two brothers, Dr. Ellis Bush of Troy, Ala., and Fred Bush of Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Mr. Bush is a graduate of Troy High School and a 1949 graduate of Auburn University. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II as part of the greatest generation. Mr. Bush’s career was spent in New York City as Vice President of Sales for Avondale Mills.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity.
