Bids for the furniture, fixtures and equipment for the addition to the Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library in Brundidge were opened at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brundidge City Hall.

The bids will be sent to Polyengineering in Dothan where John Carn, company engineer, will review the bids to make sure that they meet or exceed the specifications, said Linda Faust, Brundidge administrative assistant.

“We had received requests for five bid packets with follow-up questions from several of those who requested packets,” Faust said. “However, we only received two bids, one from Business Interiors of Montgomery, $67,204.88, and the other from Hollis Interiors of Brundidge, $43,088.00.”

The funds for the library furnishings were provided through at $123,600 USDA grant.

Faust said Polyengineering was hired by the city to get the bid specifications up and will review the bids and notify the two businesses once the review is completed.

“The specs included all of the furniture, fixtures and equipment and the installation of all the furnishings,” Faust said.

“We want to move ahead with the project so, hopefully, the bids will be reviewed and notification made by next week.”

The addition to the Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library will double the size of the original library building and will include the circulation area, meeting room, computer labs, adult book section, work room, restrooms and kitchen nook.
