Emmett Alfonso (AL) Smith, a resident of Troy, Alabama .transitioned to his eternal home with the Lord on Sunday, March 13, 2011. The celebration of his earthly life will be Friday, March 18, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Troy, AL with Pastor George Gilchrist, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill’s Memorial Park. Family and friends visitation will be Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church.

Emmett attended and graduated from Alabama State College on May 29, 1967 with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree. From August 1967 through August 1970, he served his country as a member of the United States Army. Emmett was a well known and respected entrepreneur.

Survivors include is wife, Dr. Linda Felton-Smith; children, Iku Eno K. Smith, Emmett Christopher Smith and Tara Felton; mother, Nathia Lee Bouldin Christian; sisters, Sandra (Eddie) Dix, Joan and Barbara Dickerson; brother, Jerome Christian; cousins sisters, Dr. Gwendolyn Patton, Lavarda Collins, Roslyn (AL) Collins, Faye Smith Johnson, and Alberta; cousin brothers, Billy Carter, Esq. (Brenda), Kenny J. Smith, C. Robert (Varabara) Patton, Charles (Rossetta) Bolden; father-in-law, James W. Felton; sisters-in-law, Ida (Rev. Lovell) Martin; Mary Ann Felton, Mary Catherine Felton, Jacklyn (David) Curtis, Gladys (George) Upton and Clara (L.D.) Fitzhugh; brothers-in-law, Reverend W. James (Sally) Felton, David (Sandy), Clifford (Regina) Felton; seven aunts; one uncle; nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
