Drex Guthrie, 31 of Denver, Colo., and formerly of Troy died Friday, January 28, 2011, in Denver.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2011, at Park Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danny Arnold Officiating. A private family graveside will follow.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. There will also be a one hour lie-in-state at the church prior to the service.

He is survived by his parents, Gary and Carla Guthrie of Troy; his brother Adam Guthrie of Birmingham; Chelsi Guthrie and their son Cade of Denver; his grandmother Nell Cook of Elba; aunts and uncles Beth and Gene Dolby, Ann Guthrie, Jimmy and Daphne Cook, and Sam Vogel; and cousins J.D. Cook III, Christina and Tom Anderson, Holly and Brian Roper, Laurie and William Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Florence Guthrie and Drexel Cook, and an aunt, Susan Vogel.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Corley, Newton Campbell, Todd Smith, Wade Marona, Stuart Gay, Bryant Webb, J.D. Cook III and Tom Anderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Pike Liberal Arts School Class of 1997, and his teammates on the PLAS football and golf teams.

In lieu of flowers memorial be made to the Park Memorial United Methodist church, P.O. Box 1291, Troy, AL 36081.
