John F. Sanders Sr.

Mr. John F. Sanders, Sr. of Troy died Friday, January 7, 2011. He was 84. Funeral services for Mr. John F. Sanders, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. H. Lavon Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the chapel. Burial will follow in Sandfield Cemetery with Military Honors by the U.S. Marine Corps., Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Mr. Sanders was born January 25, 1926 son of the late James Henry Sanders and Ruthy Freeman Sanders. He was a mechanic in the automotive industry and proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is survived by his wife: Fannie Reeves Sanders, Troy; 2 sons and daughter-in-law: John F. (Kristie) Sanders, Jr. and Stephen Sanders all of Troy; grandchildren: James Price, Emily Green, Holly S. (Joshua) Lee and John Paul Sanders; great grandchildren: Katy Lynn Lee, Lauren Price; 6 sisters: Catherine (Pete) Lewis, Texarkana, TX; Ruth Flowers, Frances Chandler and Clara (Bobby) Culpepper, all of Troy; Elouise Holder, GA; and Edna (Jessie) Dorrill, Brundidge; 2 sisters-in-law: Mary R. Taylor, Montgomery, Al; and Virginia Peacock, Troy; and numerous special nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be John Paul Sanders, Tommy Peacock, Curtis Faulkner, Ray Horn, Jesse Dorrill, and Josh Lee. Memorial may be made to Sandfield Cemetery Trust Fund, 6153 AL. Hwy. 223, Troy, AL 36081.
