Mr. Wiley H. Sanders, Jr., 85, of Gainesville, Florida, died Friday, January 7, 2011, at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida.

Mr. Sanders was a native of Goshen, Alabama, son of the late Wiley H. Sanders, Sr., and Ethel Howard Sanders. He had resided in Gainesville for the past 37 years. He was a WWII Navy veteran, worked for the Federal Aviation Agency for 38 years, and was a pilot and flew for the University of Florida Athletic Association after he retired from the FAA.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sybil F. Sanders; 2 daughters, Dorothy L. Haller of Gainesville, Florida and Wylene Dickerman of Matthews, North Carolina; one son, James F. Sanders of Ocala, Florida; one sister, Frances Berry of Troy, Alabama. Five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Dillard’s Funeral Home on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M., the Reverend W.O. Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606
