The forwarding of nine current business items left the Pike County Commission to work from a short agenda Monday night.

The commissioners approved a resolution to move ahead with a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) by obtaining Monroe & Associates for the administrative services for the grant.

The $400,000 CDBG is for the resurfacing of two county roads in District 4 and the resurfacing of another in District 3.

The county’s match for the 20/80 grant will be in in-kind services, said District 4 Commissioner Ray Goodson.

The commissioners awarded the bids for a car and SUV for the Pike County Sheriff’s Department.

Harry Sanders, county administrator, said bids were submitted by Ken Cox Ford in Troy and Floyd Shirley Ford in Brundidge. Ken Cox Ford was the low bidder for both the car and the SUV.

The bids for the car were $21,754.24 from Ken Cox Ford and $21,866 from Floyd Shirley Ford.

The Ken Cox Ford bid for the SUV was $23,815.05 and the Floyd Shirley Ford bid was $24,016.

“The bids were very close but it was the recommendation that the Commission award both bids to Ken Cox Ford,” Sanders said.

The Commission voted unanimously to award the bids to Ken Cox Ford.

The Commission approved the publication of the Commission’s annual statement and voted to cancel the next scheduled meeting on Dec. 27 due to the Christmas holidays.

The next meeting of the Pike County Commission will be at 6 p.m. on Jan. 10 in the boardroom of the Pike County Health Department.
