Tammy Rushing Williams

Tammy Rushing Williams, age 47, of Double Oak, Texas, passed away October 14, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born March 31, 1963 in Troy, Alabama to Frank and Elma (McQuagge) Rushing. She was graduated from Charles Henderson High School in 1981. While attending Troy State University she married Marine 2nd Lieutenant Anthony Williams on November 26, 1982 in Troy, Alabama.

Tammy completed her degree in psychology at Troy State, graduating Magna Cum Laude, the highest academic honor a student can achieve. Tammy was a homemaker, who devoted much of her time volunteering for the schools her boys attended, Boy Scouts of America and Downing Middle School and Marcus High School Orchestras. Above all Tammy was a devoted wife and mother.

Survivors include her husband Anthony; twin sons, Zachary and Alexander Williams; mother, Elma (McQuagge) Rushing; sister, Diane (Thomas) Calhoun; brothers, Charles, Donnie and Keith (Caroline) Meeks; father and mother in-law, Norman and Joette Williams. She was preceded in death by her father Frank Rushing.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home of Troy. Funeral services will be Held Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with Jack Walters and Brother Wayne Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in Hales Chapel Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
