Zion Chapel sweeps Goshen

The last time the Goshen Eagles dropped a volleyball match was back on Sept. 4 against Zion Chapel.

As it turns out, history does repeat itself, unfortunately for the Eagles.

For just the third time this season, GHS left the court on a losing note, as the Rebels defeated the Eagles for the second time, in the second round of the regional tournament.

ZCHS swept through GHS, winning by the scores of 26-24, 25-17 and 25-23.

“We just could not adjust to their digs,” Goshen head coach Dee Hughes said following the loss.

“I called a time out early on (in the match) once we figured out what they were doing to tell the girls what to prepare for. But we just couldn’t put them away.”

In both the first and third games, the Eagles reached the 20-point marker first, however, the Rebels were able to rally and finish the job.

“We just have not gotten over the hump that is Zion Chapel for us,” Hughes said. “They have always played well against us and we have never really been able to pull through and find a way to beat them.”

The Eagles will be in action again this upcoming Thursday, in the Sub-State Tournament.
