Trojan volleyball season comes to end

While the Charles Henderson Trojans were able to finish off their regular season with a win, they could not carry the success over into the postseason.

The Trojans found themselves in Eufaula on Monday looking to extend the season in the area tournament against the host team, however, that would not be the case.

CHHS would lose in five games to Eufaula, 20-25, 16-25, 25-23, 25-21 and 4-15.

“I thought we fought hard (Monday),” CHHS head coach Jennifer Sikes said.

“We just could not capitalize on any of Eufaula’s mistakes and whenever we made a mistake, that did capitalize.”

Allison Lecroy led the way for the Trojans, especially in the fourth game, when she had nine-straight service points.

Olivia Hudson also contributed with nine of her own points throughout the match.

Overall, CHHS finished with an 4-11 record.

“I didn’t want to see the season come to an end,” Sikes said.

“I wouldn’t say the season was a disappointment, because I think these girls proved themselves worthy and capable of winning games, especially towards the end of the season.

“I would have loved to see us beat Eufaula on their own court but it just didn’t happen. I do think we have a talented bunch of girls coming back though that are ready and willing to win,” the coach added.
